After surviving a stabbing attack, Hananel David is faced with overcoming his PTSD to become a paramedic.

How can animation tell a story differently? This was the question I asked when I started to collaborate on this project. How could animation realize a traumatic memory without declawing the attack but also without being over-the-top?

My role as an animator was to use realize Hananel’s PTSD through handdrawn illustration and rotoscoping. I worked closely with the director Jake Oleson to develop an animation language that could capture the nuance and sensitive nature of trauma, and fully realize the the brave journey of the survivor through its darkness.
